WAYNE HERRIMAN

Wayne Herriman has lived and working Oklahoma his entire life. A respected small businessman, he currently owns and operates Sunburst Seed Company and Holman Seed Farm.

 

Wayne was born in Muskogee and graduated from Warner High School. He went on to attend Connors State College, served two years in the United States Army and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Agriculture.

 

After graduating from OSU, Wayne worked for 18 months as a ranch-hand in Fairview, Oklahoma, where he put in demanding 16- hour days on a preconditioning feedlot. He then began his career as a salesman in the seed business, working for Muskogee Seed Company among others, traveling extensively throughout Oklahoma and Arkansas until he opened his own business.

 

Wayne founded Sunburst Seed Company in 1984 and built the company into a well- regarded business among farmers and businesses throughout eastern Oklahoma. In 1994, Wayne purchased Holman Seed Farm in Collinsville, Oklahoma and expanded into custom seed cleaning in addition to his traditional seed business. Through his work, Wayne has become recognised as an expert agriculturalist with wide knowledge of soils, seeds and farming.

 

Wayne has served as president of Oklahoma Seed Trade Association, the Oklahoma Crop Growers Association, Tulsa County Conservation District and is currently the president of the Tulsa County Farm Bureau.

 

Wayne is an elder at the Church of Christ of Collinsville. He has been married to his wife, Patty, for 37 years; they have four children and five grandchildren.
